The Regulator has one statutory objective which is to safeguard and promote the interests of: - around 600,000 tenants who live in homes provided by social landlords; - over 120,000 owners who receive services from social landlords; - around 40,000 people and their families who experience homelessness and seek help from local authorities; - around 335 Gypsy/Traveller families who can use official sites provided by social landlords.   The Board is responsible for the leadership and strategic direction of the organisation, ensuring that it achieves its statutory objective and carries out its functions effectively and efficiently. Appointment of the Chair to the Scottish Food Commision   This is an exciting opportunity to shape and influence the development of a new public body: the Scottish Food Commission. It is expected that the Commission will be formally established by mid-2025.   The Scottish Food Commission is a new non-departmental public body that is to be established to provide an oversight role of provisions made in the Good Food Nation (Scotland) Act 2022.   As the first chair of the Scottish Food Commission, this appointment will play a crucial role in shaping the future and strategic direction of this new public body.   You will be actively involved in the recruitment of the chief executive, the first member of staff to the Scottish Food Commission, and in appointing the other members of the board.   You will work closely with the sponsor team and the chief executive, once in place, to enable the new public body to take on its statutory functions and full budgetary control once it is established.   Once the body is fully established you will be key in ensuring the Commission effectively fulfils its oversight role and provides constructive challenge, that is evidence based, to Scottish Ministers and relevant authorities in relation to their Good Food Nation Plans.   This is a high publicity role that will attract great interest from key stakeholders interested in the Scottish food system.   Remuneration and time commitment   The chair role is paid at a gross daily rate of £211 per day (7.5 hours).This role is non-pensionable. This means that there is no pension contribution paid.   We expect that the time commitment will change over the life of the body. While the body is being established and during the first months of operation more engagement will be needed – i.e. up to 80 days/year. During the establishment phase there may also be phases of increased activity.   It is likely that once the body is established the chair’s time commitment will decrease to approximately 50 days/year.   The chair’s time commitment will be reviewed on a regular basis.

Appointment of the Chair of the Scottish Agricultural Wages Board   Scottish Ministers are looking to appoint a new Chair of the Scottish Agricultural Wages Board from 1 July 2024.   Applications are invited from people with the skills and experience to help workers’ and employers’ representatives to reach fair and reasonable settlements on matters relating to agricultural wages, holiday entitlement and other relevant terms and conditions of service.   The Scottish Agricultural Wages Board is an Executive Non-Departmental Public Body set up under the Agricultural Wages (Scotland) Act 1949.  Its purpose is to make statutory Orders fixing minimum wage rates, holiday entitlement and other terms and conditions of service for workers employed in agriculture in Scotland.  The Board’s Orders are legally enforceable and the Scottish Government Rural Directorate has a duty to investigate complaints about non-compliance.  It also carries out random test inspections on agricultural holdings to ensure compliance and pursues recovery of arrears on behalf of workers.   Time Commitment and Remuneration   Remuneration is: - £278.00 Daily Rate - £139.00 Half Day Rate - £81.00 Homework Rate The role currently requires a time commitment between 10 and 16 days per annum. Depending on the demand, the time commitment could be less than stated, however, it is unlikely to be more. Reasonable expenses incurred will be reimbursed. This appointment is non-pensionable.

New Board members will work with the Chair and the Board to ensure the efficient, effective and accountable governance of NHS Tayside and to provide strategic leadership and direction focussing on agreed outcomes. The Board’s functions focus on strategic development, resource allocation, implementation of annual delivery plans and performance review and management.   Remuneration and time commitment The rate is £9,030 per annum for one day a week / £18,060 per annum for two days a week. This is non-pensionable.

  Appointment of a member to NHS Fife Board The Cabinet Secretary for NHS Recovery, Health and Social Care is seeking to appoint a new member to the Board of NHS Fife. A new Board member will work with the Chair and the Board to ensure the efficient, effective and accountable governance of NHS Fife and to provide strategic leadership and direction focussing on agreed outcomes. The Board’s functions focus on strategic development, resource allocation, implementation of annual delivery plans and performance review and management.   Remuneration and time commitment The remuneration for the role is £9,030 per annum for 1 day (8 hours) per week, which is non-pensionable. 

Appointment of a Member to the Scottish Commission on Social Security   The Scottish Commission on Social Security (SCoSS) is an independent body set up in 2019 to provide independent scrutiny of the Scottish social security system and hold Scottish Ministers to account. The Commission is separate from the Scottish Government and from the Scottish Parliament. It carries out its work independently of both, but works closely with both. Information on the Commission’s functions are set out within Section 22 of the Social Security (Scotland Act) 2018. SCoSS’s role is made up of three parts: - Scrutinising draft regulations and publishing a report including recommendations to the Scottish Government. - Reporting on the Social Security Charter to the Scottish Government and the Scottish Parliament on whether the expectations in the Social Security Charter are being met. The Scottish Government and Social Security Scotland published the Social Security Charter in January 2019. It is called ‘Our Charter’. - Responding to requests from the Scottish Parliament and Scottish Government to report ‘on any matter relevant to social security’ when asked by either of them. The role is non-pensionable. This means that there is no pension contribution paid. Members will be reimbursed for reasonable travel and other expenses incurred to carry out their role, such as: - Any travel and subsistence costs - Reasonable childcare or carer expenses - Disability-related reasonable adjustments   Members will be expected to devote up to 36 days per annum. You will be expected to attend meetings of the Body regularly, to prepare for and to contribute fully to these and to perform your other functions. Board meetings are currently held roughly every 4-6 weeks and there are often ad-hoc meetings in between as well.
